About the Panchang

The Panchang, literally "five limbs", is the Vedic almanac of a single day. Those five limbs are Tithi (the lunar day, set by the angle between Moon and Sun), Nakshatra (the lunar mansion the Moon occupies), Yoga, Karana (half a Tithi) and Vara (the weekday). Each of them changes at its own moment, so this tool shows every limb as an interval with an end time rather than a single label.

Because the Panchang day is measured from local sunrise to the next local sunrise, and every muhurta window is built from your sunrise and sunset, the result is specific to the place you choose. All positions are sidereal using the Lahiri ayanamsha and are computed in-house with the Swiss Ephemeris.
